Guru Ki Kashi

Message from Baba Iqbal Singh

Dear Sadh Sangat
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!

The Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh Ji, after sacrificing his four young sons (Sahibzadas) for the Khalsa Panth and blessing the '40 liberated ones' at Muktsar, reached Talwandi Sabo and untied his Kamarkassa, the waistband and hence the name Damdama (breathing or resting place).It was here that Guru Gobind Singh Ji on refusal to handover the text of Granth Sahib by Dhir Mal; recited from memory the entire text of Granth Sahib with his own 'lotus lips', which, Bhai Mani Singh penned down in nine months.The hymns of Guru Tegh Bahadur were also added at appropriate places in the Holy Scripture.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji also set about teaching Gurmukhi to the Sikhs, Santhya (correct pronunciation) and revelation of Gurbani to the common masses.One day, as per divine order, he began sharpening reeds, throwing these into the Sarovar and declared,

"This is Guru-Kanshi and will emerge in future as a great center of divine learning. Here thick-witted will be transformed into scholars. The divine message of universal peace and brotherhood taught by the Gurus will spread across the world."

At Talwandi Sabo itself, the ever-knowing Tenth Master had blessed this region in an interaction with Bhai Dalla;

  • That the place will have canals flowing although at that time it was a sandy desert area.
  • It will have lots of farms of mangoes, grapes and oranges, although it was full of wild shrubs.
  • It will have fields full of wheat crops, although wild bushes and grass were visible all around at that time.

Such was the Master's conviction that he proclaimed that Gursikhs in future will see it themselves realizing these blessings of canals, fruits and wheat crops.
Saadh Sangat Ji, as per divine order, 3 out of the 4 blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji have been realized: Today,    Rivers and canals are flowing,   Fields are yielding huge wheat crops,   The region is full of farms of mangoes, grapes and oranges.

The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib after having successfully setup 129 Schools and Eternal University; has endeavored to muster whole-hearted support and great response from the Saadh Sangat to realise the 4th blessing of 'Guru Kanshi Talwandi Sabo', as a humble homage to the Tenth Master by setting up "Akal University". Land for Guru Kanshi "Akal University" has been donated and Government approvals for setting up the University have been received. In reverence to the tenth Guru's prophecy, the Trust has endeavored to establish an International Center for Comparative Religious Studies as a part of Guru Kanshi AKAL UNIVERSITY with special emphasis on the Teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and establishing centers to translate Guru Granth Sahib in original ragas in different languages of the world.

Besides, Guru Kanshi AKAL UNIVERSITY, Talwandi Sabo, will develop collaborative academic programs with domestic and foreign universities for new and novel technologies and co-operative programs with local, national and international industries and develop program to trainmanpower to fulfill the needs of Punjab and India.

I personally look upon this as my duty to deliver this project for the benefit of mankind. Since this a massive project that would cost around Rs. 500 crores, I would require and plead for the support of all and one.

Let us all contribute generously by performing Sewa whole-heartedly, physically as well as financially, to earn the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Iqbal Singh (Baba)
